Relax and Enjoy

Craigleith, Blue Mountains

Meticulous detailing of high quality materials create an elegant patio and deck combination.  With careful consideration of the site's existing dimensions, the layout was designed to maximize the use of space in this irregularly shaped and naturally enclosed backyard.

Featuring 800 sq.ft of exotic hardwood decking, selected for its warm rose colour and renowned durability, the boards are installed with the CAMO® Hidden Fastener system to create a barefoot-friendly floor, that looks both clean and spacious.  The colour palette for the project was selected to create a cohesive appearance that ties together all the various elements in a relatively small space, without feeling busy.

Bold stainless steel planters plumbed with automated irrigation sit within the deck, full of edible herbs and low maintenance perennials.  These striking containers frame the stairs to lower patio and separate the dining patio from the adjacent spaces.  The patio features sleek Techo-Bloc® Travertina Raw slabs that contrast with the natural granite rockery and visually lightens the space with their bright ivory colour.

Designed by Luke Williams and built by Jeff Gillmor of The Metal Cabinet Company - the bespoke outdoor kitchen island is an eye-catching centerpiece.  The kitchen features a high-end Coyote® Grill Head and Clementi® Wood Fired Pizza Oven.  Set against a living wall of English Ivy framed by rustic Douglas Fir timbers, the privacy panel is mounted with spotlights that illuminate the cooking area.

I love it when an inspired designers plans come together.

Subtle outdoor lighting fixtures punctuate the landscape, and ensure this space can be enjoyed well into the evening hours.   Positioned to allow for easy snow removal during winter months, a therapeutic BullFrog® spa is integrated into the upper deck platform, while colourful low maintenance plantings surround the living spaces and provide year round seasonal interest and fragrance.
